What you can compare

The comparison view shows:

MetricDescription
Current AQIReal-time Air Quality Index at each location

Leaf ratingLong-term air quality score
7-day averageRecent air quality trends
Best/worst timesWhen air quality is typically better or worse

Use cases

Choosing where to live

Compare neighborhoods you're considering moving to. Look at long-term leaf ratings rather than just current conditions.

Planning your commute

Compare air quality along different routes or at different times to minimize exposure during travel.

Outdoor activities

Compare parks, sports facilities, or running routes to find the cleanest air for exercise.

School or childcare decisions

Compare air quality at different schools or daycare centers to help protect your children.

Tips for meaningful comparisons

  • Compare places at the same time of day for consistency
  • Check both current readings and historical averages
  • Consider the leaf rating for long-term decisions
  • Look at trends — is air quality improving or declining?
  • Factor in your specific sensitivities (some pollutants may affect you more than others)
