Troubleshooting
Find solutions to common issues and answers to frequently asked questions about AirScape.
Map and display issues
The map isn't loading
- Check your internet connection: AirScape requires an active internet connection
- Clear your browser cache: Old cached data can sometimes cause display issues
- Try a different browser: We recommend Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
- Disable browser extensions: Ad blockers or privacy extensions may interfere with the map
The heat map shows no data
- Zoom in: Heat map data may not appear at very low zoom levels
- Check the location: Ensure you're viewing an area with sensor coverage
- Select a pollutant layer: Make sure a pollutant layer is enabled in the map settings
Colors look wrong or inconsistent
- Check your pollutant selection: Different pollutants use the same color scale but different thresholds
- Verify the time period: Real-time, 7-day, and overall heat maps show different data
Sensor questions
I can't find certain sensors on the map
Some sensors may not appear if:
- They are temporarily offline for maintenance
- Data is being validated or corrected
- They are newly installed and not yet calibrated
Why do nearby sensors show different readings?
Air quality can vary significantly over short distances due to:
- Local emission sources (traffic, construction)
- Building configurations affecting air flow
- Elevation differences
- Microclimates
Account and saved places
My saved places aren't showing
- Sign in: Saved places are linked to your account
- Check sync: Give the app a moment to sync your data
- Try refreshing: Reload the page to fetch the latest data
I can't save a location
- Sign in: You need an account to save places
- Check your connection: Saving requires an internet connection
Data questions
How often is data updated?
- Real-time readings: Every few minutes from active sensors
- Heat maps: Continuously updated as new data arrives
- Historical data: Available shortly after collection
Why does AirScape show different values than other services?
Different air quality services may:
- Use different sensor networks
- Apply different calculation methods
- Use different AQI standards (see Cross-regional standards)
- Update at different frequencies
